As the new year gets rolling to a full head of steam, I’m sure many resolutions have already fallen by the wayside. Of course, I know there are still plenty of you dedicated souls out there still holding true to your aspirations for 2018.

I recently had a discussion with someone about spontaneous events and how so many times they turn out to be more fun than the ones that are well planned out. I’m sure you all have experienced this, but maybe just never really thought about it –  the impromptu get-together after work, the sudden road trip, the party that just happens, etc. The reason these events turn out so good is because there are no expectations. Things just happen the way things happen!

These spontaneous events can provide us with great insight to our day-to-day living as well. Do we sometimes become so entrenched in our resolutions, our goals and plans that we lose our ability to be spontaneous?

Are we so consumed with making it through our own daily “to do” list that we don’t recognize the pleading voice of a co-worker, a friend or a family member begging to be heard? Or are we so consumed and devoted to our new diet that we won’t allow ourselves to go out, relax and enjoy an ice cream or a dinner on the town with an old friend or our spouse?

There is an old saying, attributed to none other than Beatle John Lennon, that goes like this: “life is what happens when you are busy making other plans.”

We hope that you don’t allow life to pass you by without living it! Now that sounds like a resolution I can get on board with!

Don’t Be A Cow, Be Spontaneous! This blog was. 🙂
